At what point does a spontaneous ensemble of jazz become a scientific series of multilinear sensory variables?

Working collaboratively but individually on a piece, much like jazz, the different instruments all working together in harmony. Each using marks to express how we are perceiving the music, like an organic audio line. Creating a multilinear ensemble of lines and textures, existing with several sensory variables.
A piece that can be looked upon as scientific research, to analyse each part as independent experiences. However, near impossible to recreate due to the improvisation and spontaneity of the piece.
Contradicting the consistency of fact.
The question still remains; At what point does a spontaneous ensemble of jazz become a scientific series of multilinear sensory variables?
Has this piece answered that question? Has it captured the ambiguous tension between structure and spontaneity?
